NewGround on NPR with StoryCorps!

Participants of NewGround: A Muslim-Jewish Partnership for Change will be featured as part of the StoryCorps project on NPR this week.  Tune into KPCC 89.3 FM for the following shows to hear the segment:

Off-Ramp, Saturday, April 18th, 12PM-1PM
Morning Edition and All Things Considered, Wednesday, April 22nd

NewGround: A Muslim-Jewish Partnership for Change is a project of PJA and the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC).  NewGround aims to foster a dialogue between Muslims and Jews that is informative, transformative and ultimately revolutionary (Read more below).

Earlier this year, the Story Corps project asked PJA to send them NewGround participants to share their stories and experiences.  This week, they will be featuring two Muslim NewGrounders, Ramin and Arash Nematollahi, brothers who recount leaving Iran at a young age.

We hope that you can tune in for one of the shows.  They are truly inspiring.

More about NewGround:

PJA and MPAC’s NewGround Fellowship engages diverse groups of Muslims and Jews in an innovative community-building process.  Utilizing a creative and dynamic new approach, NewGround provides participants with structured dialogue, in-depth education sessions with community leaders, skills-building workshops, and collaborative civic engagement projects.  Fellows graduate from the program transformed, with a deeper commitment to positive relations and partnership between their two communities.  An emerging alumni program keeps fellows connected, and engages the broader community in the vision of NewGround.

Through our partnership with the University of Southern California’s Center for Muslim Jewish Engagement (CMJE), we have taken NewGround to the next level with a parallel text study program.  Taught by leading scholars and facilitated by NewGround staff, the program will promote religious understanding by engaging participants in dialogue, enhancing their knowledge of their own faith, and facilitating dynamic discussion.
